Leslie Doherty is a multi-media artist concentrating in oils. She is a full-time artist and owns a gallery on Route 1 in York. Leslie was born and brought up on the New England coast and it is there that she always finds her inspiration to paint. She is known mostly for her landscapes and landscape/ marine paintings. “Enthusiasm in painting what you know is always the key to expression,” she says. Light and composition are the two basic elements she looks for before beginning a painting. Leslie attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and majored in painting and design. She worked with Elyot Henderson teaching the first art program at York High School, and she served on the Board of Directors of the York Art Association.
